What is Ejaculation?

Ejaculation, as mentioned above, is the process in which semen is ejected from the male’s body during sex. When a person is sexually aroused, tubes (also known as vas deferens) squeeze sperm from the male reproductive organ (testes) to the back of the urethra( a tube where urine and semen flow through).

The urethra then collects the sperm and fluid mixture. When the person is sexually aroused, the brain sends signals to the penis muscles to release the semen out of the penis. And that’s known as ejaculation.

How Does Ejaculation Work?

It is the central nervous system that controls Ejaculation in the body. When a man is sexually stimulated, some signals are sent to the spinal cord. And when a person reaches sexual intercourse, those signals are again sent from the brain to the male reproductive parts. After receiving the alerts, ejaculation happens.

Generally, ejaculation has two phases:

1. Phase 1: Emission

Emission is the process in which the sperm moves from the testicles to the prostate area and gets mixed with the seminal fluid to make semen. The Vas deferens is a tube that carries sperm from the testicles to the base of the penis.

2. Phase 2: Expulsion

Expulsion happens when the muscles of the penis contract and this contraction helps in releasing semen from the male reproductive part. In most cases, erections and orgasms happen simultaneously.

What is Premature Ejaculation?

Some people sometimes get erections problems like premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction. Ejaculation issues like PE happen when a person is not able to control his erections during sexual intercourse.

Premature Ejaculation happens when a person ejaculates very sooner than expected by the couple during physical intercourse. And when ejaculation doesn’t happen, the couple doesn’t get pleasurable sexual time, leading to various adverse health issues, especially in men.

Causes of Premature Ejaculation

Premature Ejaculation can be seen because of several reasons i.e., both mental and physical. But the most crucial role in ejaculation is played by the Serotonin level. Serotonin is a substance that is created by the nerves in the body. Dr. Bhandari- a renowned sexologist, has said that- a higher level of serotonin will increase the ejaculation time. And when the level goes below, it causes premature ejaculation.

As said, the causes of premature ejaculation can be both physical and mental. Here is the list of PE causes that a man can encounter:

Several exercises are proven to be effective in enhancing ejaculation timings and getting control of them. One can perform the activities on a regular basis and improve their performance timing without getting any surgical treatment.

Pelvic Floor exercises are a specially designed physical set that can help you treat your PE issues without any medication. These exercises are designed to improve the muscles of the pelvic region and give them strength. In this exercise, one has to stop his urine flow in midway whenever he goes to the washroom. Pelvic floor rehabilitation, if done more than eight times a day, will give positive results.

2. The Pause-Squeeze Method

Both male and female partners can use this method for a better sexual drive. All you need to do is:

1. Perform a sexual activity with your partner involving stimulation of the penis until you feel that ejaculation will happen.

2. Make your partner squeeze the end of the penis and keep it for some time. Continue this process till the urge to ejaculate passes from your body.
