A West Virginia man was accused of living with the deceased body of her mother and collecting her Social Security benefits.
Decomposing Body of a Woman Found Inside a Home
A West Virginia man identified as Michael Johnson, 41 years old, was allegedly living with the deceased body of her mother and collected her Social Security benefits. The body of her mother is already in the decomposing stage and an autopsy was conducted to determine the real identity of the woman and the cause of death.
In a published article in TRUE CRIME DAILY, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office went to a home in the 400 block of 5th Street to serve an eviction notice to Peggy Johnson. However, authorities found the home suspicious because no one was there and there were some suspicious signs coming inside the home.
When the authorities entered the home, they found the decomposing body of a woman assumed to be Peggy Johnson. Meanwhile. detectives found her son hiding in a closet and he also confessed that he lived with his mother for years and that she died in December 2022.

Son Collected the Social Security Benefits of Her Mother
According to a report published in 12WBoy, Peggy Johnson used to receive an amount of $1,000 in Social Security Benefits every month. When she died, her son continued to receive and collect the money and it was reported that he collected a total amount of $5,000.
Furthermore, it was also found that Michael Johnson on his mother’s account nor he is authorized to collect the Social Security Benefits.
