The Public Utility Commission of Texas has secured refunds and bill credits amounting to $181,717.26 in the 3rd quarter of the Fiscal Year 2023. This aims to help the electric, water, and telecommunications consumers who filed informal complaints about their billing.
In a published article in Jacksonville Progress, the Public Utility Commission of Texas’ Consumer Protection Division team has 23 employees and assisted 2,819 consumers who filed complaints about their billing and other issues that the agency regulates.
Chris Burch, director of CPD during an interview said, “The first part of the PUCT’s mission statement is to protect Texas consumers. And our team comes to work each day to make sure Texans receive reliable and safe utility services at fair prices. We always encourage customers to work with their provider first to resolve any issues or complaints, and we are here as a resource if additional help is ever needed.”

- Electric – $168,199.97
- Water – $4,052.95
- Telecommunications – $9,464.34
