Asylum seekers that are arriving in New York City are lacking transportation that should be provided by the government.
With this, Mayor Adams voiced the need for more aid coming from the state and federal government just this crisis be solved.
The previous practice of New York was to send buses to the bus terminal to be used by asylum seekers.
But this is not anymore the current practice.
Asylum seekers arriving that are arriving in New York are immediately been given maps to walk going to their shelter instead of riding on buses.
Buses are not available to be used for asylum seekers because these are to be used for other purposes.
According to Tim Minton to Fox 5 New York, the MTA spokesperson, “Buses are provided when requested by the city for emergency situations, and when that occurs, discussions follow about sustained feasibility and reimbursement for associated costs.”

Who Will Now Help The Asylum Seekers?
Asylum seekers need to walk going to their shelters if buses are not available.

With his non-profit organization, they offered free rides to asylum seekers from the Port Authority Bus Terminal going to their shelters.
