The work ‘Minotauro’ has just been inaugurated in Milan, a mixture of dynamism, power and emotions expressed in the body of the supercar through the technique of finger painting.
On November 3, at La Bullona in Milan the work of art “Minotauro” was unveiled: myth, the body of a man and a bull, expressed in paint on the body of a Lamborghini Huracán EVO.
In case Huracán EVO wasn’t radical enough by itself …
The work is an expression of the dynamism, power and deepest emotions that the artist experienced while driving the Huracán EVO, portrayed through the powerful features of a man’s body traced by the fingertips of Paolo Troilo.
Paolo Troilo’s painting, in constant evolution, uses the representation of the male body as a defining element and a means of communication. The work, entitled ‘Minotaur’, owes its name to the mixture of emotion and meaning that the artist experienced when he met the Lamborghini.
The arms on the hood are a clear homage to the ‘bull’ horns.
“It was inspiring to meet Paolo Troilo and his artistic expression. At our company we are used to art and the way it has always influenced our cars,” commented Christian Mastro, Marketing Director at Automobili Lamborghini. “However, when our products and the emotions they elicit are combined with the sensibilities of an artist like Troilo, something different and exceptionally unique like ‘Minotauro’ is created, and we are very proud of that.”
The artist pays tribute to the Huracán EVO representing a fusion between man, the symbol of the Automobili Lamborghini bull and the concept of myth expressed in the indomitable, supernatural and almost animal force that the figure of man painted on the sides of the car gives off. The force transmitted by the forearms and the clenched fists on the front hood are reminiscent of the horns of a bull.
Wherever you look, the Hurricane tuned by Troilo is brutal.
“Time. I am in love with the idea of slowness, and I have always defended it as a key to pleasure, culture, beauty and success. But there are some experiences that make you change,” explained Paolo Troilo, creator of the work.
“Seeing the Lamborghini Huracán EVO and testing it suggested to me that there are also things capable of releasing the same energy with acceleration, with speed, with momentum. I heard the sound of the wind picking up as space narrowed and time distorted : I felt a flowing wind and I used it to paint on the muse herself, the inspiration of these emotions: the Hurricane, my Minotaur “.
From November 4 to 13, the Huracán EVO painted by Paolo Troilo, along with other works by the artist, can be seen at the Palazzo Serbelloni on Corso Venezia 16, in Milan, as part of the exhibition “TROILO-MILANO SOLO ANDATA” , organized by Luca Beatrice.
The artist
Paolo Troilo was born in Taranto on March 27, 1972, the son of Antonio and Lucia Troilo. Her enormous talent was evident even in the drawings she made at the age of seven, a hobby her mother lovingly fostered by always leaving sheets of paper and pencils around the house. His father, an anesthetist, soon began commissioning him for illustrations of pathology to display at medical conferences.
Paolo studied at the European Institute of Design in Rome and later at the Faculty of Arts and Architecture at the University of Florence, but did not finish any of these studies because he was eager to work in advertising. In 1997 he moved to Milan and began his illustrious career in this sector.
His path of success began at the prestigious agency Saatchi & Saatchi, which led him to be named Best Italian Creative Director in 2007 with the presentation of the Grand Prize of the Club of Italian Art Directors.
If we were to put a date at the beginning of his artistic career, it would probably be April 2005 when, while still working in advertising, he decided to change drawing for the noble art of painting.
The unmistakable style of Paolo Troilo in another of his works.
The day she started gathering the supplies she needed to make that leap, she forgot to buy brushes. This is the “mistake” that his technique gave us; the need to express yourself at all costs became a virtue. For this reason, he began to paint with his fingers, making this technique, together with its powerful metaphorical meanings, make him unique.
In 2009 he left advertising to focus on his passion for painting. In 2011 he was selected for the 54th Venice Biennale. In 2013 he became an independent artist, breaking away from all the art galleries that exhibited his works to follow his own path with the help of sponsors.
His works have been exhibited in Singapore, San Francisco, Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Los Angeles, New York, Milan, Rome, Palermo and Florence. Lives and works in Milan.
