Familia Michoacana Drug Cartel
Familia Michoacana came from the nearby state of Michoacan in around the 2000s. This family has been chased out from its home state and had found a new life in Mexico.
The US Justice Department said that Familia Michoacana has been known for ambushes of Mexican police and some residents in Guerrero, a nearby state of Mexico. “The drug cartel of Familia Michoacana has specialized in methamphetamine production and smuggling, along with other synthetic drugs”, the US Justice Department added.
Familia Michoacana was sanctioned last year by the U.S. Treasury Department for manufacturing fentanyl pills or commonly called “rainbow” aimed to be used by children.
The Mexican police were investigating as to why private security abandoned their post during the killing incident.
