On Sunday, July 2, 2023, a man with a hoodie and baseball cap attacked a passing stranger sexually, according to the police, but the victim bravely resisted and fought back against the culprit. To identify and establish leads in the arrest of the alleged suspect for questioning, police have made the CCTV footage of the suspect publicly accessible.
Sexually Abused Victim Fights Against the Suspect
According to the released report from The victim, who is 20 years old and whose name has not been made public, went out for a stroll in Astoria around 27th St. and 30th Ave. The woman allegedly reacted angrily and fought the suspect on Saturday after a man allegedly approached her and reached into her shorts to grope her private area.
After being pushed up against a fence, the victim said in the police report that the suspect quickly escaped after putting up a fight and defending herself from the alleged sexual assault.
Police estimate the suspect’s height and weight to be around 5-foot-10 and 165 pounds. He was sporting a black baseball cap, gray shorts, and black sneakers while carrying a red bag and wearing a gray sweatshirt as his outfit.
