Possession of Child Pornography caught in the Hands of U.S. Capitol Police
From the published report of Fox News,Jared Michael Lemon, a resident of Owings, was indicted on five counts of possessing child pornography. Around five in the morning, officers from the Maryland State Police made a non-violent arrest of him at his home early on Monday. Authorities received a tip regarding Lemon’s online activities, which sparked the months-long probe.
“The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children also received a cyber tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that an online user, later identified as Lemon, had posted what was believed to be child pornography, according to Maryland State Police.
The suspect was subsequently identified by authorities as a police officer. Since 2005, he has worked for the USCP. In December 2022, state police carried out a warrant at Lemon’s house and examined his electronic equipment for the alleged possession of child pornographies. The USCP reassigned him as a result of knowing about the accusations at the time.
“Lemon will be suspended pending the outcome of the criminal case,” the USCP said in a statement. When the USCP became aware of the inquiry in December 2022, it immediately removed the officer’s police authority and, while MSP was looking into the claims, reassigned him to administrative responsibilities where he wouldn’t have to deal with the general public.
