A 61-year-old named Dwayne Freeman resident of a nursing home in Indianapolis was charged with murder and rape.
61-year-old Man pleaded Guilty
Based on the news released by the AP News, a 61-year-old man living in a nursing home in Indianapolis accepted the charges of murder and rape. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 45year detention for killing and 30 years of detention for raping an 80-year-old Named Patricia Newnum at the nursing home, where both the suspect and the victim are living under the same roof.
Based on the Results of the Investigation
According to court filings, on the morning of February 2, 2022, an employee at Homestead Healthcare Center went to Newnum’s room to give her medication. She noticed Freeman was naked and laying on top of Newnum, with a pillow covering her face. According to the documents, Freeman admitted to having intercourse with Newnum but claimed that they both agreed in doing it. It was unclear why Freeman was a nursing home resident.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office leads are showing that Newnum died because of suffocation. Homestead, which is owned by Adams County Memorial Hospital, a small hospital in northeast Indiana, has been sued for wrongful death by Newnum’s family. The hospital hires CommuniCare of Cincinnati to manage the facility.
The death of Newnum was an undeniable result of the facility’s lack of proper management, inadequate staffing, and deplorable circumstances according to the lawsuit.
