Rochester, New York Mayor Malik Evans officially announced that an amount of $500 monthly payments for 12 months will be sent to eligible residents.
$500 Monthly Direct Payments
Guaranteed monthly direct payment is one of the sources of additional income and money for low-income households. Recently, in Rochester, New York Mayor Malik Evans officially announced that they will offer $500 monthly payments for eligible residents.
In a published article in The U.S. Sun, around 351 qualified households will receive the $500 monthly payments for 12 months. To qualify, the following are the qualifications:
- Be 18 years old or older
- Live in a qualified census track in Rochester
- Have lived in Rochester for at least a year before applying
- Have a household income that is at or beloved 185 percent of theĀ Federal Poverty Level
- Only one person per household can apply for this program
Furthermore, the application will begin on Thursday, June 22, at 10 a.m. and will last for one week. Mayor Evans also said that partners at the Lab for Economic Opportunities will choose the 351 participants at random.

Mayor Malik Evans Released a Statement
Mayor Evans said, “This program is founded in the belief that individuals in poverty are best positioned to make informed financial decisions that address their household needs efficiently. The cash transfers are unconditional, meaning there are no strings attached, no work requirements, no restrictions on how that money can be spent.”
He also explained that this is now the time to take the city out of poverty mindset to a prosperity mindset. Eligible residents in the county will also receive financial counseling.
