A group of lawmakers is now pushing a new bill that will send $3,600 to qualified American families and will give them more money in their pockets.
New Bill that Will Send $3,600 Monthly Payments
A group of Democratic lawmakers is pushing a new bill that will send $3,600 monthly payments to qualified and eligible American families. The aim of the bill is to add more money to the pockets of working people and to help them fight the increasing inflation rate and the rising cost of basic commodities.
In a published article in Yahoo News, the new bill is to increase the amount of the monthly Child Tax Credit to $3,600. This is under the new bill titled “The Working Families Relief Act” which entails the following:
- Boost the incomes of 40 million households, including 65 million children
- Increase the CTC to $3,000 for kids ages 6 to 17 and $3,600 for kids 0 to 5, and make the credit fully refundable
- Deliver the CTC monthly to help families keep up with the cost of living
- Nearly triple the EITC for workers without children, make the credit available for people starting at age 19, and eliminate the maximum age
- Make permanent the American Rescue Plan’s expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit
However, turning this proposal into law might be tough and difficult. It may pass the House of Senate but it will be difficult for them to pass “The Working Families Relief Act” in the House of Representatives given that the current focus of lawmakers now is to cut government spending.
